Designed by a fair trade women's cooperative of jewelry makers in Northern India,  the Anjali earrings offer a doorway into enterprising women's sense of economic freedom and opportunity.  In a country which has a breath taking tradition of fine craftsmanship, these talented but disadvantaged women are able to create their own home based businesses whilst working under the auspices of a fair trade organization.  The goal of the group is to ensure that the entire jewelry making process is non-exploitive, from bead production to the stringing of the necklaces. They enforce strict health and safety standards by making sure that the communal furnaces used to make glass beads are ventilated properly, and by using dust-sucking chambers for their stone working processes. The group also has a strong commitment to combating child labor in the manufacturing sector.

The Anjali Earrings are 2 1/4" and silver plated over brass.
