Referred to as "ahimsa scarves", no silk worms inside the cocoons are killed in the process of producing the silk so that they can naturally emerge into butterflies. Because of this, these scarves were traditionally created for Indian holy men who would wear ahimsa silk next to their skin because of its pure vibration and essence of non violence.

Through this initiative, silk weavers who are primarily women living in vulnerable communities in Northern India are able to play a central role in the production and management of their business; land is reforested to provide enough trees for the worms to live in and the artisans use dyes derived from vegetables in their gardens. This holistic approach is key to sustainability and ensures the entrepreneurial success of these vibrant communities.
