All of our products are shipped with cards containing information about fair trade and the corresponding artisan group.

This item is handmade in a fair trade women's cooperative in Ghana. The artisans define prosperity as going beyond financial well-being to include happiness and good health. They achieve prosperity by creating and selling unique, handcrafted products of the highest quality. Being able to do the work they love and being empowered by financial independence leads to greater happiness. The women realize their dreams of having the opportunity to support their families, send their children to school, improve their health, and save for the future.

Batik is an ancient handmade fabric art. During the batik process, hot batik wax is painted or stamped onto fabric, which is then dyed. After one or more dyeings, the batik wax is removed, revealing differently colored patterns and designs. Cracks in the batik wax give patterns the “crackled” look so unique to a batik.
