This exquisite little basket is designed and handcrafted by Mayan women in a fair trade cooperative in Guatemala. It features a variety of delicate raffia stitches on coils of pine needles and pajón, a native grass. The central circle transitions to a square basket thanks to open corners. Indigo blue raffia and pine needles accent the lovely design. And like all of our pine needle baskets, it will bring the fresh aroma of natural grasses into your home.
Pine needles, pajón and raffia.

ABOUT THE ARTISANS
The women who handcraft our pine needle baskets go out together, often to quite distant places, to collect the longest pine needles they can find and then stitch them together with raffia and native grasses. As beneficiaries of Fair Trade, the women earn regular income, allowing them to feed their families, send their children to school and harbor hopes for a better future.
