Bonita Basket, Guatemala

This exquisite basket is designed and handcrafted by Mayan women in a fair trade cooperative in Guatemala.  A smaller version of our Harvest Basket, it is intricately woven with long leaf pine needles, raffia ribbon and pajón, a native grass found near Lake Atitlán.  And like all of our pine needle baskets, it will bring the fresh aroma of natural grasses into your home.

Pine needles, pajón and raffia.

Measures 8.5" W at top, 8" W at bottom and 2"H

ABOUT THE ARTISANS

The women who handcraft our pine needle baskets go out together, often to quite distant places, to collect the longest pine needles they can find and then stitch them together with raffia and native grasses. Working with fair trade, the women earn regular income, allowing them to feed their families, send their children to school and harbor hopes for a better future.
