Our best selling kantha fabric necklace is now available in a beautiful new color pattern, featuring gray and black beads. To make this unique necklace, the artisans cover handmade wooden beads with recycled remnants of discarded vintage cotton saris and quilts.
This versatile piece can be worn as a necklace (single, doubled or tripled) or as a multi-strand bracelet. It has a clasp so can be opened up and wrapped around the neck or wrist. The colors on this one might be a little dressier for an evening out, or wear with jeans during the day.
Approximately 61" long.
ABOUT THE ARTISANS
Our kantha jewelry collection is handmade in a fair trade women's cooperative in India. The artisans are paid excellent wages and have seen their standard of living greatly increase through fair trade practices. In addition, Worldfinds, the company working with the women, has established the Girls Education Fund, which provides scholarships for marginalized girls to continue school. In India it is estimated that 64% of adolescent girls are forced to leave school early to take care of younger siblings, help run the household or for arranged marriages.
