Resilient/Resistente Necklace, Peru

This fabulous necklace spells "resilient" in English and Spanish ("resistente").  It features a strand of semi-precious jade stones on a macrame cord with hand-stamped alpaca silver charms.

Fully adjustable cord allows it to be worn long or short.

Please note:  The charms are made from recycled metals which may have imperfections (see photos).

ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This sterling silver jewelry is handcrafted by female artisans in a fair trade cooperative in Chimbote, Peru.  Chimbote is one of the poorest cities in the world, and the women in this cooperative are either disabled or have disabled children. They earn 3x the minimum wage in Peru and work in a bright, airy, safe environment.  They use recycled metals and other materials whenever possible.
