ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This scarf was handmade in a fair trade cooperative in Egypt that employs over 300 women.  The goal of the cooperative is to pay fair wages (the women earn twice the minimum wage), ensure that women are paid the same as men, to use only sustainable materials, preserve cultural traditions and provide safe working conditions.  The artisans are highly skilled weavers who create only the highest quality products.
