This beautiful jewelry is handmade by Akha women in a fair trade cooperative in Thailand. The Akha people are an indigenous hill tribe who live in small villages in the mountains of Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries. Over 100 artisans are employed in the collective, both full and part time, and the women not only receive fair wages but are able to work either communally or from home.
