It features an intricately woven design made of pine needles and pajon, a native grass, with hand-dyed red and green raffia accents. Sturdy and extremely well-made, it can be used to hold small treasures or better yet, leave it empty to show off the gorgeous interior. This model features a small bowl shape (second photo shows bottom of basket). It will bring the natural smell of fresh grass into your home.
Pine needles, native grasses, raffia ribbon.
9" wide at top, 4"wide at base, 3" high.
ABOUT THE ARTISANS
The women who handcraft our pine needle baskets go out together, often to quite distant places, to collect the longest pine needles they can find and then stitch them together with raffia and native grasses. Working with fair trade, the women earn regular income, allowing them to feed their families, send their children to school and harbor hopes for a better future.
