ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This bag was handmade by master weavers in a fair trade women's cooperative in Guatemala.  The women fit their work into their daily routines of cooking for their families, caring for children, and tending their milpas (corn, beans and squash crops) and animals.  Coop members share skills and expertise, encourage one another and enjoy the mutual support. The women are paid fair wages and have seen their lives greatly improve through fair trade practices.
