Safari Napkin Rings, Kenya

Who wouldn't love a set of these adorable, hand carved napkin rings?  Master artisans in a fair trade cooperative in Kenya carve these out of African Mahogany using simple tools. Each set of six includes the following animals: lion, cheetah, elephant, rhinoceros, giraffe, and zebra.  Three of the animals are hand painted while the others are left in their natural state.  The workmanship on these is exquisite.

ABOUT THE ARTISANS

These napkin rings are handmade in a fair trade cooperative in Kenya comprised of numerous families and villagers who are involved in all aspects of production.  Children are taught the carving skills from a young age, so this tradition has been passed down from generation to generation.  Others in the community paint the products. All are paid fair wage and receive business training skills.

An integral part of the organization's function is to educate the craftspeople on the need for reforestation to enable the products to be available for years to come and offer a sustainable income for generations to come.
