ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This wooden product is handmade in the Lake Atitlán region of Guatemala in a fair trade workshop.  It is one of the occasional items we feature that are made by men, although women are involved in running the business.  The reason we chose to carry them is not only are they stunning and of the highest quality, but the cooperative donates 10% of their sales to female elders in the community who are in need of healthcare and other services.  The craftsmen are highly skilled and use only hand tools to create functional utensils of the highest quality.
