This piece of jewelry was handmade in a fair trade cooperative in India. India has the longest continuous legacy of jewelry-making anywhere in the world, with a history of over 5,000 years. This indicates a high level of craftsmanship attained by artisans over the centuries.  The artisans who make the jewelry are paid fair wages and work in safe conditions.  They have seen their lives greatly improved through fair trade practices.
