ABOUT THE ARTISANS
This piece of jewelry is handmade by low-income women in a fair trade cooperative in New Delhi which provides training and education as well as paying the women fair wages. One of the longest running cooperatives in India, dating back to the 1970's, it not only provides employment, but actively campaigns against child labor, illiteracy, unfair trade practices, discrimination and AIDS.
