ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This piece of jewelry is handmade by low-income women in a fair trade cooperative in New Delhi which provides training and education while paying the women fair wages.  One of the longest-running cooperatives in India, dating back to the 1970's, it not only provides employment, but actively campaigns against child labor, illiteracy, unfair trade practices, discrimination and AIDS.
