ABOUT THE ARTISANS
Today, in Western India in remote villages captive to endless seasons of drought, famine and poverty, you will discover over 200 women involved in this thriving rural enterprise. The environmental benefit of paper made from recycled cotton rags is significant since the process does not require the destruction of trees! And it is even more significant, that rural women in India are involved in handmade paper production – considered to be highly effective means of creating sustainable livelihoods in rural areas, especially for unskilled women who do not require previous technical experience.
