ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This jewelry was handmade by women in India who have HIV/AIDS in the "gypset style". This style combines the ancient crafts of bead weaving and macrame with a modern aesthetic, and it has a free-form bohemian feel to it. The women receive full time employment and earn living wages so they can support their families and lead dignified lives.
